ABOUT ME

In 2021, I published The Spirit of Sunflowers, a story that was planted in my childhood heart by a lifelong friendship. Soon after the book was on the market, I received several invitations from book clubs to join the discussions of my novel. It was an honor to listen to people share their emotions about the characters and the plot line. My novel made a marked impression on the readers which inspired me to continue this journey I started.

Creative writing has always been a part of me, but the passion to compose an entire novel didn't happen until two decades into my teaching career. Looking back at a college assignment in Children's Literature class where I was required to tell a memorized story through voice and gestures at the town's annual Autumn Leaf Festival, I now see its influence. The experience of being a storyteller stuck with me decades later. Stories are boundless and impactful and take us to places we've never been. Stories let us escape, and storytellers are catalyst for such things! This is what keeps me at the keyboard, tapping out words in the endless cycle of the writing process. Currently, I am working to put my novel, Beautiful Dreamer, into publication.

In 2020, I found a love for short stories when I began a tradition of writing a fiction piece at Christmas time to share with family and friends. This past holiday season, I published A Home for Christmas on my blog. In 2023, I entered the Indignor House Writing Competition. My entry, Ticket to Abbeville, was chosen for publication in the anthology Finding the Good Through the Rain and won Honorable Mention.

In 2023, I created KConnection. Here I share thoughts, experiences, ideas, and a bit of fiction. I write about matters that are relevant to life. Reading my posts, you will learn a little about me and maybe connect with the topics. Currently, I am working on a series, Journal With Purpose. Each new blog will include a journal exercise designed to inspire self-love through self-awareness and self-care. Please join me in May when I publish the first volume of the series.
